The Ladies

After working together on and off for about 3 years, we found ourselves sitting at work, staring out the window, wishing we could spend our days simply creating, baking, and socializing. This quickly turned into the thought of opening up a bakery where we could hold charity events, cooking classes, and birthday parties. Oh and we also wanted to have a yoga studio in the back and a used bookstore connected to the side.  Yes, we dream big. Six months later, after we finally conceded to the fact that this dream of ours would be impossible unless we won the lottery, we decided to write a blog, which quickly turned into a catering dessertery. Now Bake, llc has become our obsession, and while we wont be having a store front in which to teach yoga or hold baking classes any time soon (yet), we finally have our creative outlet that we have been looking for all these years.

Meet Marcie:
I’ve loved selling things since the young age of 12, when I would set up yard sales outside my bedroom door and try to make my brother buy things. No joke, I made signs. When I wanted a cell-phone at only 14, I created picket signs with the tag line “20 cents a day is a small price to pay for safety” and protested until my dad gave in. In summary, I was a very creative (and apparently stubborn) child. Actually, I guess I’m still both those things. I have a passion for starting up businesses and love to travel. I have a bachelor’s degree in public relations, went to law school (we won’t elaborate on that bit) and even worked as a bicycle mechanic. Yep, I’m eclectic.
Although I’ve never really baked (my expertise is in chocolate), I love trying to come up with new ways to create gluten free, kosher desserts. I have a dog name Kumi, who has yearly birthday parties, and hold numerous awards from my goat showing days.

Meet Katelyn:
My parents first realized my love for baking when they found a tape in our camcorder of my six-year-old self setting up and hosting my own cooking show. True, it was only my playschool kitchen and I was only showing my audience how to make delicious, plastic eggs but you get the idea. Ever since I can remember I have spent time with my mother and grandmother learning how to bake yummy, delicious things and this hobby has only grown with age. In fact the most enjoyable job I had growing up was the time I worked in a bakery. Nothing is more fun than decorating cakes all day! Now that I’m older, I enjoy baking desserts for my friends and family and making my wonderful fiancĂ© and all our friends taste new recipes (mean aren’t I?).
I love video games, cartoons, cute fluffy animals, and dorky TV shows. I have the memory of a goldfish and tend to bump into things. Ask my fiancĂ©; it’s amazing how many bruises I can acquire. But I can frost the heck out of a cupcake and you’ll never meet a more dedicated Sunday cartoon watcher.
